Write up of the Live Together Day, April 6th 2018, Za'atari Syrian Refugee Camp in Jordan
The Live Together program is run by Peace and Sport in cooperation with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) with the NGO IRD, and involves a host of organizations, each contributing with their specific expertise and assets to the smooth and safe implementation of sustainable sport for development and peace activities within the camp; hosting 80 000 Syrian refugees.
So far, the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), the Fédération Internationale de Teqball (FITEQ) and World Association of Kick-boxing Organizations (WAKO) have conducted coaching seminars for refugees. During each coaching seminar, Peace and Sport integrates a part on peace building and on the Sport Simple Solutions methodology, focused on enhancing certain values through specific sport exercises. 85 refugees (men and women) have been trained so far to become coaches in the 3 sports and 205 children benefited from sport activities.
Nicole Redner, the General Manager of BRIGHT HOPES FOR KIDS (MONACO)conducted the Music for Peace workshop

Nicole Redner, the General Manager of BRIGHT HOPES FOR KIDS (MONACO)conducted the Music for Peace workshop, singing together with 25 young Syrian girls and their teachers; teaching the song " Light a Candle for Peace".
This was very successful, and we have been invited to return. Our generous donors, the Paramusix Foundation and Daniel Von Lison, bought a new violin for one of the talented athletes, a 15 year old refugee. Nicole carried the violin with her from Monaco to Jordan, taking great care of this precious gift. This violin was handed over to this talented young man on the 6th of April; a dream come true for him; accepted with tears of joy.

The 9th edition of the Friendship Games in the Great Lakes region of Africa will take place in August 2018 in the DRC. These three days of trans-border sports events designed to promote peace will bring together over 180 9-15 year-olds from Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda.
With 8 previous editions to their name, the Friendship Games of the Great Lakes have made their mark as a major event for sports diplomacy. Acknowledged and supported by political and sporting authorities in the region, this project initiated by Peace and Sport is attracting growing interest from local communities.
Youth centres from the frontier areas of Burundi, DRC and Rwanda all meet to enjoy sports events mixed with Music for peace/cultural activities and awareness-raising sessions about peace promotion. The Games are a unique opportunity to forge links of fraternity and friendship, to support social cohesion and help peace consolidation in the Great Lakes region.
